more...During July 2016, Thermo-Floor is celebrating its 30th birthday as a leading provider of energy efficient underfloor heating, underfloor cooling systems, heat pumps and renewable energy systems to domestic and commercial properties. For over 30 years Thermo-Floor has offered expert, professional and personable services for the design, supply and installation of our unique underfloor heating and underfloor cooling systems.
Our work has ranged from small private house extensions, self-build houses to housing association projects, schools, public houses and multi-storey buildings. We also have excellent experience in providing renewable energy solutions including heat pumps and underfloor heating systems to refurbishment projects. Our expertise also allows us to work outside the UK and also in sensitive environments such as a refurbishment of churches, public buildings, large open spaces, commercial, domestic and bio-mass recycling projects. Thermo-Floor underfloor cooling systems are more cost effective and energy efficient than air conditioning as the outside of the building accumulates less heat therefore reduces heat build-up and consequently reduces energy consumption. It Looks Great! - Thermo-Floor underfloor cooling system is out of sight and there is no need for unsightly air conditioning units.
It Is Flexible - Thermo-Floor underfloor cooling systems allow you to have different rooms at different temperatures at the same time. It Is More Comfortable And Healthier - Thermo-Floor underfloor cooling systems eliminate drafts, air pollution and dust circulation. Unlike air conditioning an underfloor cooling system will actually reduce the radiant temperature of the room rather than just blowing cold air, this gives the air a better quality. Our Polyethylene underfloor heating pipe is one of the most robust and sturdy available in the UK. However this does not compromise its flexibility, this is a result of over thirty five years’ research, development and knowledge. The pipe has a thick wall diffusion barrier which eliminates corrosion as it is does not allow oxygen to pass from the air through the wall of the pipe.
During production of the pipe an EVOH film (ethylene vinyl alcohol film) is applied to the exterior of the synthetic pipe. The film has a high diffusion resistance. This production method provides an optimal bond between the pipe and the EVOH layer ensuring that the tube and the EVOH layer do not separate. The pipe is kink resistant which makes it extremely suitable for all floor and wall heating or cooling. The Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) reviews the RHI scheme expenditure forecast, based on the number of accredited installations and announces any changes to the tariffs that will apply in future. DECC advises whether any tariffs will be reduced, the level of reduction, what the new tariff(s) will be, and when they will take effect. Changes have occurred from 1st April 2016 and can be sourced from Ofgem direct by clicking the image below.
The Non-Domestic RHI provides financial support for renewable heat technologies for the lifetime of the installation (for 20 years). They make payments on a quarterly basis. Once you are accredited, a tariff level will be assigned to your installation based on its technology (e.g. biomass, heat pump, solar) and size. Payments will be made based on the actual heat output of the system.
Payments begin to accrue from the date of accreditation of the installation. The date is confirmed in the accreditation confirmation letter emailed to successful applicants. Thermo-Floor have recently installed an Anti-Heave Underfloor Heating system into a cold storage facility near Liverpool. When cold stores are built at ground level, the low temperatures in the store will gradually transfer down through the floor into the ground below.
When cold stores are built at ground level, the low temperatures in the store will gradually transfer down through the floor into the ground below. If this is allowed to happen any moisture which is present in the earth, will start to freeze. As this moisture starts to freeze it will expand and will push up on the floor above, causing the floor to heave and eventually crack. This will result in uneven floors or could even result in severe damage to the facility. To prevent the ground under the cold store from freezing, a heating system is installed either under or within the cold store floor.
To make this system very efficient, the waste heat from the refrigeration unit can be used to heat the water in the anti-heave system. This can result in lower energy costs unlike expensive electrical systems.
