Underfloor Heating Pipe

Our Polyethylene underfloor heating pipe is one of the most robust and sturdy available in the UK. However this does not compromise its flexibility, this is a result of over thirty years’ research, development and knowledge. The pipe has a thick wall diffusion barrier which eliminates corrosion as it is does not allow oxygen to pass from the air through the wall of the pipe.

Underfloor Heating Parts

Components of Underfloor Heating

An underfloor heating system comprise of various parts, all with their own functions when put together to complete full heating solution. They will provide an energy efficient and extremely comfortable heating system. This section identifies the various parts and their function.

Thermo-Floor have installed 100's of large commercial projects over the last 25 plus years and our design and installation team have experience of large scale multi-room and small one off underfloor heating systems. Our team of design engineers will assist you in the specification of the optimum system required for both underfloor heating and underfloor cooling installations.

Two important components include the underfloor heating manifold and the underfloor heating pipe with detailed information provided below.

Underfloor Heating Manifolds

The underfloor heating manifold provides a fast and economical way to connect the underfloor heating pipes to your central heating distribution pipework.

Underfloor Heating Parts

Underfloor Heating Manifold Flow Meters

The underfloor heating manifold flow meter allows for the adjustment of flow displayed in litres per minute. The flow rate is visually displayed with a dial meter.

Underfloor Heating Manifold Air Vents

The underfloor heating manifold air vents allow for easy expelling of air during the filling process.

Underfloor Heating Manifold filling & Drain Points

The underfloor heating filling and drain points enable the connection of a standard ½" hose pipe to enable fast emptying & filling of the underfloor heating installation and underfloor heating pipework.

Underfloor Heating Manifold Isolating Valves

Manifold 1" ¼ turn isolating valves are used to isolate the underfloor heating system from the rest of the central heating system.

Underfloor Heating Manifold Safety High Limit Thermostats

The underfloor heating surface mounted thermostat is used to prevent overheating of floor construction. It is fixed to the flow rail of the underfloor heating manifold and adjusted to interrupt the power to the pump providing effective high temperature safety control.

Underfloor Heating Manifold Electrothermic Actuators

The underfloor heating electrothermic actuators are ON/OFF devices used for control of underfloor heating zones/rooms. They are fitted to the individual manifold ports and controlled via room thermostats, opening and closing as the rooms require heating. The 4-wire option provides and auxiliary contact that can be used to switch on other equipment e.g. pump, zone valve or a boiler.

Underfloor Heating Pipe

Our Polyethylene Pipe is one of the most robust and sturdy available in the UK. However this does not compromise its flexibility, this is a result of over thirty years’ research, development and knowledge.

Underfloor Heating Pipe Conduit

1m x 28m plastic ribbed conduit used to sleeve underfloor heating pipe across expansion joints, through or underneath building partitions and exit/entry points through screed.

Underfloor Heating Pipe Fixing Systems

Underfloor heating pipe fixing systems include the following, staples, grip rails, pipe fixing templates. These are all fixing system designed to hold pipe in place prior to screeding.

Underfloor Heating Mixing Valves

Thermostatic blending valve mixes high temperature water (typically 80°C) from central heating boiler with cooler return water from underfloor heating pipework to the required temperature typically 50°C for solid floors.

Underfloor Heating Circulating Pumps

The pump circulates the water through the blending valve and the underfloor heating pipework. The pump should incorporate an energy saving three speed motor to facilitate flow rates and consequent reduction of hydraulic noise.

Underfloor Heating Flow & Return Temperature Sensor & Gauges

Underfloor heating flow and return temperature sensor and gauge are mounted on the manifold and allow the commissioning engineer and end user to measure the temperature of the flow and return water in and out of the underfloor heating manifold.

Underfloor Heating Wiring Centres

In addition to providing a structured wiring system for zone thermostats and associated eclectrothermic actuators, the wiring centre also incorporates two voltage free heat demand relays that are activated when one or more zones call for heat. The two relay solution allows for separate control of a floor heating zone pump and a boiler or heat pump. With this arrangement, the boiler may be used for normal radiator heating and hot water service provision, without the need for external relays.

Underfloor Heating Room Thermostats

The room thermostat is ideal for temperature control of underfloor heating systems. It is connected to the manifold electrothermic actuators opening and closing them as the room reaches temperature.

Underfloor Heating Edge Insulation

Universal insulation strip from polyethylene for thermal insulation according to DIN 18560. Should be fitted around the base of internal and external walls. Used to take up expansion of screeded floor and to reduce heat losses through walls./
