Road Energy Systems

Road Energy Systems

Road Energy Systems compromises as an asphalt concrete layer with a reinforced structure and a water bearing medium. Apshalt concretes dark colour has has an excellent heat-absorbing property. The water bearing medij is able to cool the asphalt in summer (energy extraction) and heat it during winter (energy addition). The asphalt collector represents a new way of harnessing solar energy. The longer and more intensively solar energy is used, the more important it becomes as an environmentally friendly way of meeting our energy needs.

Care Home Installations

Care Home Installations

So many sectors, so many wishes. WTH, as a supplier of heating and cooling systems knows this only too well. Our years of experience have allowed us to be very successful in a wide range of industries including the care sector. The name 'care sector' gives away its character: its all about comfort. This applies in the area of service provision but also the design and construction of the building itself. The care unit must 'breathe' comfort. The residents are exceptionally sensitive to their personal comfort.

That is why reducing the temperature in the summer requires as much attention as warmth in the winter. The centre itself may also benefit financially from a significant energy saving. In this brochure several recent practical examples from the care sector will be reviewed. You will see that Thermo-Floor really feels at home here.

Electrotherm Installation Manual

Care Home Installations

The electrical connection of the Electrotherm floor warming system must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electricity codes. The installer has been instructed to provide you with a plan of the system installation. The plan shows where the heating element is installed, the location of the optional floor temperature sensor and the provided electrical description of the system (output plate), which is placed on your fuse box or circuit interrupter box. Keep the plan for your system and a copy of these instructions for future reference. Future homeowners should also receive this information.

No penetrating fasteners (such as nails or screws for doorstops, toilets, etc.) may be installed through the area covered by the Electrotherm heating element.

Tube For Heating & Cooling

Tube For Heating & Cooling

The plastic tube is the result of over thirty years’ knowledge and experience within WTH. The tube is robust and sturdy, but is characterised by its great flexibility. The product is kink resistant due to the wall thickness. This makes the tube extremely suitable for floor and wall heating or cooling, without risk of damage during the construction phase. WTH sets high standards for the product and provides an impressive fifty-year guarantee, the first ten years of which include consequential loss. These advantages make the WTH plastic tube a trusted element in your installation.

Oxygen diffusion is the process whereby oxygen is taken from the air through the wall of the floor heating tube and is absorbed into the heating water. This can cause corrosion in the installation. The combination of a thick wall and a diffusion barrier means that WTH tubes easily satisfy the applicable international standards.

Manifold Specification

Thermo-Floor offers an extensive range of manifolds to suit a variety of applications. The choice of heat source has a bearing on the type of manifold required. A central heating boiler may require a different type of manifold from that of a heat pump or district heating. All manifolds for temperatures above 50°C have a thermostatic control valve for regulating water temperature in the floor, a high limit thermostat as well as a circulation pump.

Thermo-Floor can also provide various types of manifolds for heating and cooling in single system. WTH manifolds can also be fitted with damp-proof insulation. However, this is not necessary if the manifold is equipped with a condensation sensor or a dew point regulator.

Installation Instructions

The self-regulating manifold has a built-in pump. Although this pump has a low noise level we advise you not to install it in a living room or bedroom and not on a lightweight partitioning wall. Install the self-regulating manifold in a passageway, storeroom, garage or cellar if possible. Floor heating as a additional heating is used to heat an area up to 45m2.

For the typical floor build up see our floor cross sections on page 9. There is a solution for every floor. Please call us for advice on floor build up not shown in our sections.
